Overview Details Fordingbridge Cinema Fordingbridge, Hampshire Regal Cinema was built as a classical Art Deco building in our home town of Fordingbridge, Hampshire and since its closure in 1965, has been sorely missed by the local community. Located just a short walk away from the BrightSpace Architects office, we are happy to announce that after gaining planning permission back in November 2016, the redevelopment of the old cinema is now complete and open to the public.BrightSpace worked closely with the client to explore multiple options for the cinema by fully understanding the history behind the existing building and coming up with feasible solutions. From the exterior, the original brickwork and tiles have been fully restored with upgraded, aluminium slim line windows which replace the existing timber frames. It was important for the entrance of the Regal Cinema to remain relatively unchanged, therefore the existing timber bi-fold doors have been refurbished and the introduction of a pitched roof allows two apartments to be situated on the ground floor and six, one bedroom apartments with mezzanine floors on the first. The newly refurbished cinema provides a truly unique cinematic experience, featuring a bespoke bar and lounge area, along with a deluxe 30 seat auditorium accessed by the original foyer entrance. After opening its doors to the public in June 2017, the Regal Cinema shows a variety of classic and modern films run by local volunteers from Hampshire and we can’t wait to host the next BrightSpace social at the venue. To keep up to date with the latest news and film screenings, please visit their official website to subscribe as a member of the Regal Cinema, Fordingbridge.
